Description
Cynoglossum amabile ‘Firmament’ (blue)
First introduced to gardens around 1935, this annual Chinese Forget-Me-Not (also known as Hounds Tongue) resembles the true forget-me-not (Myosotis), and are admired for supplying color to the early summer border. Chinese Forget-Me-Not is a biennial most often grown as an annual. If sown early enough they will flower the same year. The plants grow up to 2 feet tall with flowers appearing as sprays above the foliage. The unique dainty true-blue flowers, with their tiny, 5 scalloped-petals, possess a sweet innocence. Floriferous throughout the summer with three blooms per cluster and a half dozen clusters per plant. Dead-head spent flowers for more blooms. Dislikes heavy clay soils. Great for beginner gardeners and low-maintenance gardens. Self sows.
